I think the legal limit before a found dog is considered "yours", and there fore you are legally allowed to have them spayed/neutered varies with each area. In Forsyth County, it's only 72 hours! The shelters in your area will tell you.
Poor little guy. No matter what the circumstances that led up to him being on the street yesterday, at least he is in safe hands right now. |
Yes, that is what I was referring to and the message they try to convey is lost and now abandoned or neglected. When I got my Bogey I also thought he was abandoned because of his condition. But sometimes I now think maybe he wasn't. But he did have signs that he was probably kept in a cage as a stud dog. His nails had that look of a caged stub, curled into his paws, he did not know grass, toys, stairs and he was matted so horribly. He was also intact when I got him with only one descended testicle. Part of me want to think he was neglected and not studded in a cage but the other part says that he was.

I will definitely think about a rescue when it comes time. I am still searching for his family. |
It sounds like you are doing a good job of trying to find his owners and making plans if you are not able to locate them.

Personally, I think that waiting a couple of weeks an appropriate amount of time to wait. Where I live if your dog is picked up and not altered it's done before they can be claimed, you are charged and that is the end of the story.
