(breed mate not sure which is correct term). Why?
I honestly believe that most people are just not educated enough about the whole breeding process and they just automatically think "date" when you put male and female together ... I do not believe it is with second intentions all the time. Unfortunately it is still part of our culture to think like this. Even people who never want a dog makes this assumption sometimes.
I am a breeder, so when i keep one i have the intention to breed.
But i have seen one strategy that helps, from the very families that get our puppies... whenever they are looking to add another one of the opposite sex, they express to their friends and family as a "LITTLE BROTHER OR LITTLE SISTER " ... immediately people get the message that they do not intend to breed and are looking to add another companion only ! But with that comes an annoying side effect: they will look at you thinking you are a little "kookoo" hehehe... for wanting to have more than one , ... or 2... maybe 3... the lady who posted a reply here has 6 ... so you will have to educate your friends about how adictive it is to be owned by a yorkie !!!
Enjoy your little ones
XOXO
