@ MissOcean: To be completely honest, I"m in NO way an expert on this topic or any other puppy or dog related topics. I come to this site to be educated and informed, lol! To answer your question, the can food that I do feed is Wellness Just for Puppy, however I feed the Wellness for Small Breed in the dry formula. I don't recommend feeding adult food until your puppy is much older and/or told to do so by a vet. My puppy will be a year old next month and it was recommended to us to transition to adult dry food earlier than normal. I have to say it was the best advice. The adult formula has a much smaller kibble, so it seems easier for them chew. Since switching to the adult formula Mocha's appetite seems much better.
If I remember correctly, its not recommended to feed a lot of wet food because, its too soft and not good for their teeth or jaws. The dry food "helps" with the removal of tartar and plaque on the teeth and exercises the jaw muscle. I feed wet feed 2-3x a week to just change up the routine of dry food. I know that wet food contains a lot of water, so if the lack of drinking enough water is a issue, then wet food might be appropriate. |
