As was pointed out, it is hard for a non show breeder to buy show stock.
So most, just get the best they can find and start from there to better their own breeding stock
But being a show breeder, in itself, does not automatically make you an ethical breeder. And being a non show breeder does not automatically make you an unethical breeder.
Those of us who don't show have to work harder because we don't have the show title to hide behind.
Many people out there only show to get that title and them showcase their ONE and ONLY show dog on their webgsite, leading people to believe that they have show dogs.
And let's not forget there are more puppy mill puppies sold than show and hobby/byb/non show breeders sell, all put together.
Ethics cannot be taught, you either have them or you don't.
