Chiari is a deformity at the base of the skull and is most commonly diagnosed between the ages of 2 and 6 yrs but can show up at any age. Chiari can only be properly diagnosed with MRI and spinal tap. Chiari can cause subarachnoid cysts in the brain, hydrocephalus and what appears to spine & neck issues it can cause sporadic lameness and temporary blindness and unexplained stomach issues.
