It is not an acceptable practice to use any type of coloring on a show dog but it is done. However it is not done at the show. Flat irons are acceptable to use at a show. Even though the standard calls for straight silky hair sometimes using the iron gives it a neater appearance or you may have to iron out the hair on a male that was banded to keep him from peeing on his coat. All my dogs sleep with me regardless if they are showing or not.
