I think that I have read that some dogs and cats are lactose intolerant, but some aren't. I had a cat that was old and sick and on it's last legs. It was lactose intolerant, but milk was one of the few things that it would still eat.
And, the poor thing actually begged for milk.

So -- I started buying lactose-free milk. A quart or half gallon of this costs more than regular milk, but it would last our little dogs a week or two. So, this is always an option - if you want to give your dogs milk or mix it with other foods.

My dog eats a heaping tablespoon of cottage cheese every once in a while. All of my dogs and cats have been cheese eaters - but again not a lot. Some dog and cat foods have cheese in them.

I think a teaspoon of yogart every day is good for our dogs. And, they seem to love it. My friend's vet told her to give her dogs yogart.

I have said before that my little Yorkie loves everything in the world except dog food. BUT - I babysat my daughter's larger dog today, and he ate dry dog food - and guess what???? My dog started eating it -- only because he saw the other dog eating it. How about that! I was so happy to see that happen.
