Yes I just clean it with a little warm water and dr. bronners soap - I use a soft washcloth. I've also made my own doggie wipes like this - I put a little soapy water solution in a plastic bag with some paper towels and just use as I need. This way there are none of those chemicals and crap from baby wipes. I keep it simple.
As for the vet - OMG is right - How stupid can they be!
