How old is Seth? Generally, I like to let dogs work things out on their own, and allow some snapping, growling and other communication, but I am careful not allow an all out escalation of aggression.
I have an eight month old IG puppy right now and she is considerably bigger than Lizzy, but Lizzy gives way, way better than she gets. However, I also have a very small IG, eight pounds that the puppy overwhelms, and I pretty much protect her from the puppy. I also never leave the puppy unsupervised. If I can't watch her, she goes in the crate.
