Hi,
We brought Bella home a week ago today. She is an 8-9 month old Yorkie. The breeder said she was potty pad trained. We are trying to potty pad/pan train her because we don't have a yard. The first few days went pretty well with her going on her pad in her pan. The other night she was running around the living room and jumped right into her pan and went potty all on her own but since then no luck- not only no luck on her using the pan by herself but no luck on her using her potty pad/pan at all. She seems to be able to hold her urine for a long long time. She can go all night without needing to be let out of her crate so we assumed that she'd have to go first thing in the morning but nope, she sure didn't. In the morning we don't play with her or give her kisses and love even though that is all she wants. We put her on her potty pad in her potty pan and wait and wait and wait while she tries to escape and nothing happens. We have spent tons and tons of time doing everything we can to get her to "go" but she just eventually ends up laying down and staring at us. We have taken her on tons of walks and nothing. We put her in the bathroom with her pan and closed the door and that worked a few times but now she goes on the tile. We are using Natures Miracle stain and odor remover to clean up after her. Twice now she had run around the room smelling and sniffing and every time we put her in her box she stops and won't "go" and when we have caught her just starting to squat and put her in her pan she stops and does nothing- for hours at a time. Even if I crate her and bring her out just to potty, she won't do anything. We don't play with her and firmly say "go potty" and "No" when she tries to jump out of the pan. I have crate trained 3 Newfoundland dogs and one was even litter box trained in a big litter box my husband built outside with pea gravel and even though it took a while we had far more success with the Newf then we have had with Bella. We bought the Natures Miracle "go here" spray sprayed it just before expecting her to use the pad so the odor was fresh and we have done it hours before but nothing. We have taken some of her own urine and put it on the clean pad that we put in her potty pan hoping this would draw her to it but nothing. She did not poop for two days even though she was eating and finally went while on a walk today but she did not urinate. She ate several times today and no poop since this morning. She has had water several times and should need to go bad enough to go on the pad but since we caught her just squatting, she stopped

and didn't go any more.
What am I doing wrong or what could I do better or any suggestions, helpful hints or tips?
Thanks for all of your help!
Stacy
