That's what I did too! Kaji is awesome on his retractable, but he is a scaredy cat! When he gets spooked, or when he sees a big group of kids, he runs in fear. I'm afraid I won't react fast enough to lock the lead, so when I know we'll be somewhere that might scare him, I won't use the retractable.
