I would say the first is a crate, second is a carrier. However some people/sites will call both crates (wire vs plastic).

I prefer the wire ones if you're going to be using it in the house for crate training and as a safe spot/den. Dogs can see out of them better and they get more ventilation. They're harder to move around but my girl loves hers. If you're simply looking for something to take her to and from the vet (or someplace else) then I would get the plastic one.
