Could be alot of things, but after bath dog should not "smell" like dog so quickly.
Some things to check; Sniff his ears - there should be no bad smell coming from ears - if so - something wrong
Open mouth look, at gums and teeth and sniff mouth - no bad scent - no obvious gum discoloration, teeth should be white, particularly at one year old.
Check skin on belly and under loins - look for sores, redness, discoloration and again no bad scent should be smelt.
Check eyes for clarity of whites, tearing, styes, sores etc
Check anus - trim hair around there so that this area stays clean.
