She might have meant it in a good way. I call my yorkie "mi ratoncita" which means my lil' rat. I love her to death and think she's the cutest thing in the world. You have a bad impression of rats but not everyone does.
You should see my little girl walking along the wall and you will understand what I mean. Don't take it to heart, if someone tells me my girl looks like a rat I put a big grin in my face because in humor she does. Just like some people think newborns are ugly that doesn't mean they don't like them. Everyone has a different way of thinking.
