I lost my job back in December, and moved back in with my parents. Kaji and I gave up living in a beautiful condo that we shared with my roomies and their furbabies.
My parents live where my dad works as property manager, among other things. It's a building built in the 1950's or maybe older. Most apartments still had the cool boxes in the kitchens with the door in the hallway for the milkman to leave milk and cream in. The owner tells me, when she purchased it, the previous owners called this building the "honey moon inn" because newly weds took residence in this building when it was brand new. I love it because of it's history, but it doesn't have all the modern commodities.
Usually, since my parent's apt is hidden away, it doesn't get much sun, so it doesn't heat up. Recently, the weather outside went from gloomy, and cool, to usual summer weather. It's the first time I've seen Kaji pant without exercise. He must be hot. So I'm wondering what I could do to help him cool off. I put ice in his water bowl and that's all I could think of. Kaji's not allowed in the kitchen if I'm not home. My mom uses chemical cleaners all the time, and I'm afraid he might get it on him and lick the toxins. I'd rather not have him in there because no one watches him.
ANYWAY.... does anyone use cooling beds? How do they work?
