Sorry you were the one to get yelled at. But you never know what she has experienced in the past. You might be one of the few responsible dog owners but lots of people are not and it's probably not a nice thing to pick up other people's dog poo, who knows how often she has to do that. And then you poor soul came along and she saw you and you got all her frustration thrown at.
I would not stay away if this is your usual route but maybe stay on the other side. And if you see her again give her a smile and say "Hello". She is probably totally embarrassed by now.
