When my Westie has an allergy flare-up - we give him Zyrtek. He just seems to do better on that than the Benadryl. He's four years old and he appears to do just fine on it. He doesn't get it all that often though - mainly when the season changes; early spring and early fall.
Lucy has never had either one.
