Well, I am going to take the jump. Somebody slap me
I appreciate show breeders. Not all, but some actually do this to keep the breed pure and beautiful.
A Yorkie is a Yorkie b/c of the standards that showing encourages.
I think some breeders breed their pets because they love the breed and want to participate in such a rewarding program...even if they don't care about showing. Providing high quality pets to others is a service that I admire.
And I don't care if people make a profit from breeding but I do care if profit is their
main or only motivation.
Everyone can have their own opinion about this but we should all consider what practices we are going to support. How does it affect the overall Yorkie population? How does it affect less informed people who go out and make quick puppy buying decicions? Puppy Mills are the worst case but there are many bad breeding programs that only lead to unhealthy dogs or those with less Yorkieness.
Now...going to duck in the closet for awhile.
