Do you know the person, or know if they are a reliable site? Otherwise, they may just want to get access to her computer, and this can be dangerous if she uses her computer for shopping and banking. It's not the payment that they are wanting as much as information that is stored on your computer.
I had to take my computer to a local company and it was around $200, it was well worth it, and I didn't lose anything except the virus.
