sorry you are going through this...yes it is hard on them...but so would an unwanted pregnancy..........as for neutering....dont do it while she is in heat.......it will be too hard on him..............and totally separate them...not just a gate......as others have said...........yes they can tie between the gates...........and that is very very dangerous.........especially for the male.......it could do damage to him if it was to happen...........if you could keep them in separate rooms that would be the best..........good luck and know that in another week or so things will be better...........but dont go on 21 days................females have been known to tie as late as 28-30 days from first day of heat............so it is best to keep them apart for 30-35 days..........again good luck.
