from my experience with Maggie May, I would ask them for some pain meds and when they can be given. Maggie was operated on early in the day so by the time she was home that evening, it was okay for us to give more pain meds-she was wimpering wee bit and as soon as we gave her some, she quieted right down and went to sleep.

I think it depends on the time of day only because of the amount of meds in system. so I would just find out when it would be okay to give more.
