You can google pet friendly locations. A lot depends on what part of the country. There are places in Colorado and California that have pet friendly malls. Most places that have a downtown with any outdoor seating will allow your dog with you outside. The tide is turning and a lot more stores that do not have food are allowing small dogs. I would just make a list of the stores that you would like to visit and call those stores directly. It's more the individual store not the chain. Ask them if they allow a dog in a carrier and if they say yes, be sure to get the name of the person that tells you that. I've heard of some Old Navy, Barnes & Noble, etc... but it varies store to store, manager to manager. Be sure to get the name of the person giving you the okay and if you encounter resistance you can tell them you got permission up front. Retailers are slowly starting to realize that consumers with the disposable income to pamper a pooch and put it in a $200 bag, just might spend a little cash in their store, if they are allowed in.... if they say no, you might want to remind them of that!
