I home cook also and have been doing it for 10 years. Like Yorkiedazee, I am strongly in favor of home cooking and my dogs look and smell great - clean shiny coats, clean teeth and fresh breath and best if all, no smelly poops like you can get from dog food.

My dog currently are on diets formulated specifically for them by a board certified veterinary nutritionist.
I cook white meat chicken and brown rice and green beans for Barney who recently had pancreatitis from eating dog food. This diet is very low in fat.
I cook chick peas, sweet potatoes and fish oil for Daisy who has liver disease.
Teddy gets the same as Barney but he gets corn oil and carrots in his.
We use the Balance It supplement.

We also feed some fruits and veggies as snacks.

I do not use dog food of a any kind at this time.
