I've been using these for 3 years and I always put a cup of vinegar in the water when I wash. It really does help to keep them smelling pretty fresh. By the way these have lasted a long time. I just sent an order last week for new ones.
Just to be clear - I do use soap in the load in addition to the vinegar - the amount you would use for a large load.
