What is amazing to me is how many people commented that they felt the price, no matter what it was, was "worth it" in the long run for what they get in return from their yorkie. The price "up front" is such a small part of what having a yorkie is all about. It is also a small amount compared to what it will cost to feed and care for that dog for the next 15 years or so.
I think that the prices vary so much because different people care about different things. Some want a show dog, some want a breeding dog, some want a pet, some want a tiny little dog that can go anywhere with them. Some want a "status symbol" kind of like cars. They want the Lexus instead of the Honda. Some care if the dog is the "perfect breed standard" and some like "unique". Everyone has to consider their budgets but, someone who has all the money in the world will pay whatever it takes to get the puppy of their dreams.
Yorkies have risen in popularity recently which is bad for the price conscious and for the breed, if unscrupulous breeders add them to their list of breeds and practice unethical breeding practices at the expense of the animals.
The bottom line is we all realize in the end that we loves our furbabies and we wouldn't trade them for anyhting in the world. That's just what this breed is all about!! |
