I have two yorkies. When I had one and was deciding to maybe get a maltese as a playmate for him I did some research and talked to several people who owned both and they said the coat on the maltese is much harder to maintain. The yorkie is silkier and easier where the maltese is cottony. The tear stained eyes can be a grooming nightmare as well.
I don't know if there is anyone on this site who has both, but if you are out there, please help us out here.
I ended up with a second yorkie but I just got an exotic color so they are different!
