If I stay up too late mine will cry and bark to tell me it is time for bed. They sleep in my bed. My lab, when she could still go up the stairs, always slept with my younger son. At 8 o'clock every night she would sit by the bottom of the stairs until he went up to go to bed, then she would follow with him. Now that she can't do the stairs, due to arthritis and old age, she sleeps at the foot of the stairs in her bed, which you now have to step over when you come down in the morning.
