I did the exact same thing tonight. Kaji was unusually squirmy (he usually just lets me do it) and I got one of his back toes. I used this:
21st Century Styptic Powder - Health Care - Dog - PetSmart
and it stopped the bleeding. I always have it on hand just in case. He was mad at me for a while. He went to go sit in the other room by himself. After a little treat, he's now sleeping right next to me.
