Yay for nutrition classes!

I don't have the scientific answer (although my nutrition teacher would say if it is peer reviewed, it's on pubmed and everything else is hear-say). I don't think it's going to hurt to fast once in awhile. But I really don't think it's good for you. Just think of the amount of carbohydrates the brain needs a day...130g. How are you getting that if fasting (even averages out over a week) if you are fasting for a week? If people don't feel well when they eat and thus want to take a break, then perhaps there is a medical issue going on or they are eating the wrong things... And a lot of people fast (aka detox) to lose weight. Well, such a reduction in calories is going to result in weight loss, but there are probably healthier ways to go about it. We need nutrients to survive and withholding them doesn't seem like a good thing to be doing to our cells!

Nutritionist wanted to make a point to the class. So he first went over the vitamins recognized in science: A, B, C, D, E, K. Then he pulls up a site for vitamin O. lol. So much on the internet isn't science at all. It's opinion.
