It's
completely realistic. It happens all the time here. And generally there are a good number of people who do beg them to stay. Sometimes they stay, sometimes they leave, and sometimes they come back after a while. I can think of a couple members this has happened with recently--they didn't like what they saw, left and had an outpouring of people that complained once they were gone.
