We also have used the Have-a-heart traps and you just put either a can of cat food and/or tuna . . .they even were attracted to some peanut butter toast. Then we'd relocate them to a wooded area where there aren't homes. I think we've relocated about 5 possums in the past few years. They are pretty nasty and will hiss when you try to get the cage, so we usually tarp it or cover it with a large bag before we try to move the cage. It's less stressful for him as he cannot see what is going on.
