I have a big yard but it is completely fenced in with chain link fencing so that the dogs have no place where they can get out.
This morning when I come downstairs DH says to me "There's a big rat in the recycling bin".
So I go outside: Me, Noah, Kalina, Matilda, Sebastian, Gidget - all marching behind me. I take a peek and go back in to the house and say to DH "That is not a rat, you city slicker, that's a opossum". When I looked at it it hissed and bared it's needle teeth. I love animals, but that thing is ugly and it looked really sickley.
I made DH take the recycling bin outside of the yard and dump out the critter, but it didn't run away at all it just stood there outside the gate and hissed at us. It was creepy.
Now I am worried that it'll squeeze back into the yard and I'm afraid to let the kids out - especially since Kalina is going nuts at the door. She wants to fight it!
I can't call animal control because I don't know where the darn thing is but I do know it seemed to be slow witted. Any suggestions?
