Default Another dog

I had a 12 year old pek and a one year old yorkie when I started to ask the same question. My yorkie (my empty-nest baby) was very attached to me and I did not want her to be lonely when my pek passed, which is not far off. (She does play with my neighbor's yorkie, but at 8 lbs her yorkie hurts my 3 lb baby.) I knew she would panic if she was by herself when I left the house, because I can't take her everywhere. So at about 15 months, Ally got a new little sister, Tia, who weighed a little over 8 oz at 10 weeks. Ally got a little jealous and a little distant towards me. I felt bad because she so loved to play with me and sit in my lap. Soon she began to play with Tia and they are now best friends. Yes, they both get jealous when the other climbs in my lap, but morning and night they lay down on each side of me on the couch and go to sleep. Ally loves to chase Tia and Tia will jump up in my lap to save her. Then Tia will jump down, tease Ally by pawing at her or nipping at her butt, and the chasing starts all over again. It is so fun to watch! They don't want me to leave their site, but they also don't want the other to leave their site either. Both are just over 3 lbs and with Tia not even six months, she will be bigger than her big sister, Ally. I think I did the right thing.
