Hi everyone. I'm not breeding my yorkie and don't want to be. Honestly, when I took her to the vet after first rescuing her a few months ago, I was told that she had been spayed. So imagine my surprise yesterday when the groomer said to me, "you know that Josie is in heat, right?" I had no idea! My biggest question is what's the typical length of time for a yorkie to be in heat? I don't know if it matters, but she's small (6 lbs) and the vet guesses that she's about 5-6 years old. Should I expect a lot of bleeding? Do the diapers work? Is there anything special that I should be doing for Josie? I'm keeping her away from all male dogs!
