I have been stopped a couple of times (been around 20 years ago now though), and when the very nice officer has asked me if I know why he stopped me I always said in my best British accent (Being from England originally). "I don't know why officer, but obviously I was doing something wrong or you wouldn't have stopped me"
This usually resulted in the officer asking me where I was from in England, and a "be careful next time" warning
