Rory started doing this about a year ago. I'm not sure what brought it on, but it totally took me by surprise and caused us to immediately go into fits of laughter and she just looked at us like what? My other girl doesn't do it, but she squats to mark everything (thank goodness she doesn't lift a leg). I always tell them it's a good thing they mark along their walks just in case we decide to ditch them.
