Default 2 yr old rescue growling and snapping

Hi everyone. Have had rescue now for 2 days. Summary:2 yr old female, spayed, from home w/single dad and 2 teenage sons. Housebroken and walks on a leash. Does not know sit, stay, come, etc. She also is shaved close and has a skin allergy of some sort she bites at (I have vet appt scheduled for later in week) She is very protective of my daughter who brought her from Florida, and God forbid she gets on a bed. We had a bit of a showdown this a.m. with her growling and snapping. Resident dog (R.D), 3 yr old neutered male, is not ecstatic but kinda coping. They have some territorial issues but doesn't seem to be abnormal. Ex., I got her out of crate this a.m., she was happy but timid, ok with everything until R.D. came by on and starting barking at her. That's when she ran upstairs and jumped on a bed and starting growling/snapping and wouldn't come eat. Contained RD and let her know growling was not acceptable and finally got her downstairs for breakfast and potty. (whew)

I am insisting on being the only one to feed her, give her treats, etc. Trying to stay alpha but need advice. When she growls she bares her teeth and bites. She means business. I know she is scared but I really think we can get this under control with the correct consistent treatment. Need to know if I am crazy for thinking this. Am doing direct eye contact, not giving in to her tantrums, maintaining tall posture, low firm voice and rewarding good behavior. Will this work???

Ideas???

Thanks in advance to all,
