There are so many variables that there is really no perfect equation or answer to your query.
Looking back, I wish I could have brought Maximo's brother home with us. They were very close and could have grown up together. I ended up getting his brother from a later litter -- and he was nearly 8 months old when I brought him home. They are great buddies, but it took about 4 months for my older boy to work out all of the jealousy issues.

I often think about Jackson's brother I left behind too
... wishing I would have taken them BOTH home! But I know it's hard work.
The only thing is when you get a puppy and already have an older, trained dog sometimes it's a lot easier. Because the older dog teaches the pup things. Also, I always think about if I had 2 dogs the same age, they have the potential to die around the same time.
I don't know if I could handle that! But maybe that's just my morbid thoughts, lol.
