What we can learn from this is don't take anyones word for anything. You don't just trust a stranger for any reason. As Mardelin says, Her stock was untested and unproven, so why choose her? Because it was convenient, cheap, impulsive,who know or cares for that matter. Someone contacted you just to give you this terrific information from the goodness of their heart, do you think it was because they cared about your breeding program? Or for you for that matter? As an upcoming breeder in this tough world don't be so naive. The person who contacted you is enjoying this, but dont' ever think it was because they cared about you. It was personal. |
I thifnk it is pretty unfair to turn this around and make it Renee's fault. She already admitted that she shlould have done more research.
This is not an excuse, just stating the reality. But if you don't want to show dogs, you cannot buy from show breeders. this does not mean that you don't want to improve your breedng stock, and breed the best yorkies possible. For a variety of reasons, show is not possible for everyone.
I've heard all the improving the breed, you have to show to know if your dog is suitable to breed blah blah blah, so save your fingers.
The reality is there are many good people that would love to start with show quality stock, but you can't if you don't show.
