If you were sure she was actually pregnant, then she may have aborted early and eaten them..Yes, it is very possible to abort pups and clean up the area and leave no evidence. The pups would have been very small.
A show breeder friend who lived down the street from me had a litter of 4 from a lovely champion female..not that the title matters...but Sara ate 3 pups. They were 3 days old. One was buried in the bedding and survived.
I saw the bedding and floor..not one spot of blood and other things to let you know what happened..in fact we torn the room apart positive the pups were hidden somewhere.
I am sorry to hear this..but it is possible she was not pregnant. Around 50 days it is not unusal for any signs of a false pregnancy to disappear.
