There is an injection they may give at the testicles and will make the "unfertil", i am not sure that is the right word but you get the "point" ...
The downside of it is just what you pointed, it does not prevent cancer !
Also some owners may elect it because of cosmetic "reasons", but there are inplants to substitute the real testicles if that is the issue ... some are noisy and the prostetic material silicone like is preffered... kekeke... sort of a weird funny answer but just research, google it and you will find info on it! I am with you ... why bother... just remove and let the boy be happy and healthy !
