I believe my puppy (8 months old) is going into heat for the first time. Poor thing! Her little pee pee is swollen and she is constantly licking at it. What confuses me is that none of the male dogs outdoors seem to be acting weird or anything. I know when our female outdoor dog is in heat they won't leave the pen that she is in.

Also, I made an appointment for her first visit to the groomer. The appointment is in a week. Should I reschedule her appointment until she is over this? She really needs a haircut, but I don't want to do anything inappropriate. She has never been groomed before except when I trimmed her puppy fuzz 2-3 months ago. I'm already nervous enough about leaving her there but now I don't know if I should if she is in heat.

Any help/info would be greatly appreciated!
