I saw a video on Youtube posted by a Vet who talked about this. I can't seem to find it again but basically this is what he says...and I've tried it on my 4 month old Morkie and it has worked WONDERS!!! Try it out.
1.) as soon as the puppy bites you, wrap your hand around his snout (his nose should be where the opening is and he is able to breathe)
2.) use your free hand and smack your hand that is on his snout so it makes a loud SMACK! sound This gesture gives him the "I'M THE BOSS AND I DON'T LIKE IT WHEN YOU DO THAT!" impression....(it also doesn't hurt him cus you're hitting yourself)
3.) immediate let go and ball your fist up, hold it up to his mouth and let him lick your hand immediately...this is like a peace offering gesture...saying ..."I STILL LIKE YOU. IT'S OKAY."
I did this with Teddy only 3 times and he's never puppy bite me since. Too bad i can't find the video it was SOO helpful. |
