My vet said he was exposed to every worm and parasite know to he canine and cat world and never got infected, so it is rare.

What was you question again..?
Infact , people Can get Infected by canine tape worms and hookworms.

Tape worms pretty much have to be ingested in order to for humans to be infected and No human in their right mind would ingest a tape worm. However, if a dog was infected and would cough and then quickly lick you on your lips, you could infact get a dose of tapeworms from his/her saliva !!!
Good to know: canine tapeworms cannot reproduce in humans, but they can live in the human gut for a good while.

It used to be very common in the southern U.S. for more than a few folks of all classes, to be infected by hookworms and all you had to do to become infected, was to walk barefoot in either dog, cat,or human feces.

Infected people became anemic, they became slow, sleepy and to healthy people they seemed to behave as if they were lazy. Infected people of a certain hue were called 'Poor white trash'.

The feces doesn't have to be fresh either! They,(hookworms) can go right through your skin!!!!
Then indoor bathrooms became popular !!! Now it is rare to step in human poop that has been infected with hookworms and with the invention of meds to both prevent and get rid of hookworms, etc. well, it is Rare anywhere in the USA for humans and their pets to become infected with parasites.
I learned this in my first semester biology class taught by a veterinarian at the first college I attended.

By the way, vets don't usually get infected by worms, germs, etc because they are taught aseptic techniques,(the art of being sanitary) through out their schooling.

For puppymilinfo, some pet stores that sell dogs, cats, birds have a guarantee for a year as to the health of the animal and require a visit to a vet of their choice,(usually free) and there is some kind of paper showing all of this information that the buyer is required to sign.

Did you sign anything like this and do you have any recourse from the seller? Can you complain to your state Attorney General? (Its free!!) Does the pet store that you bought your dog from belong to the better business bureau? If so, then you can complain to them. They may or may not do anything. You have to ask them if they can do anything about it I think.

Sometimes it is the disappointment of humans that brings relief to the animals they take pity on. When enough people become disappointed for the same reasons against the same people, then laws are made and hopefully enforced.

Good luck with your new puppy
