It can be difficult for them to get pregnant. That only seems to happen when in important breeding's.
Just to comment about what I said about a 17 yr old. I would not allow my bitch in heat to be left alone with anyone even adults if there was an dog around. Nobody outside of my dog world. After 16 days it's most likely too late. Have her spayed. She must develop into an adult over time.
