I still can't shake this anxiety feeling

We have fox and deer all over by my house. The lot next to me on the right is still vacant land, but it is growing tall grass, bushes, trees, etc...The whole area is really like that.

I saw a large red fox about 2 years ago in my yard. It was about 7 am, rainy and dark morning. The fox came in at the back fence (which we didn't have completely secure yet). Stood there for a second and then left.
My hubby built the house, so we still have a HUGE dirt/fill mound to the left of my house in the back yard. Shortly after I saw the fox, we noticed that there were claw marks, and a decent size hole at the top of the mound. So the fox was probably going to set up camp That's when hubby finished making the fence secure, and he started to get rid of that mound. We still have 1/2 of it left, but it is going to be all gone in the next few weeks.

Just beyond scarey...I can't believe that thing was literally right in front me, stalking Cuddles

Hubby said he was probably on his way home from hunting and still at 6 am, they attempt to get a meal, especially if they were unsuccessful at night. So I don't think he was rabid, BUT, I could certainly be wrong...
