Hi! I'm new to this forum, but I have been lurking for the past few days and people here are so helpful and smart! Hopefully you can help me.
I have a new Morkie pup. He's 15 weeks old. We've had him for about a week and a half now. Occasionally he makes this hacking/gagging sound. Sometimes it sounds like he threw up, but nothing comes out. Maybe he's swallowing it? It only happens when he's sleeping. He'll wake up, make the noise, then either go back to sleep or get up and do something. It normally lasts no longer than 5 seconds. As soon as it started happening, I freaked out, but my boyfriend told me I'm just being paranoid, which I do have a tendancy to do. I've tried not to worry and I've been keeping an eye on him. Other than this noise, he seems perfectly normal. I did research and thought it might just be reverse sneezing, but I'm also wondering if it could be kennel cough or tracheal collapse.
Anyway, I didn't want to run to the vet over every little thing, but last night he did this gagging noise a lot, so I'm really worried. I'll probably take him to the vet today, but I was hoping someone might have some useful info to help calm me.
