My college roommate had a cat and she and my yorkie got along well enough. They didn't "play" much - their relationship consisted mostly of Stella (cat) ignoring Levi and staring at him from high-up places in the apartment, like the top of the entertainment center. They would occasionally chase each other around, but for the most part, Stella ignored Levi and he learned to deal with it.
