Spray bottle is fine. Keep in mind that if you yelp, you should really squeal, the same way a puppy would - it's quite loud. And then, you stop paying attention to them.
It can be tough. I walk dogs on the weekends, and many times, the puppies will start chewing the leash, which is a big no no. I do the protocol, which is to stop dead and turn my back, ie, become boring. Still the puppy usually has a grand old time chewing the leash for another few minutes until they lose interest. Then you move the leash, and they pounce on it all over again. It can take a lot of patience!
