Skippy is 11 weeks old and has been with us for just over a week--yes, I know that is a bit early compared to the preferred time frame for adopting Yorkies. (We live down the street from our breeder and he has been spending hours a day at our house for weeks now.) At any rate, I know what the norm is and would really prefer not to get "yelled" at.
Anyhow, midway through last week he got stung by something in our backyard and I took him to the emergency vet as a precaution (he wasn't acting his normal self.) He got checked out, dosed up with Benadryl, and sent home--he was totally fine the next day.
Since then we've been on a roll and everything was going GREAT until today.
He ate decently this morning (Taste of the Wild) and then I went to the grocery store. Came home and we took Skippy in the yard to potty--he spent FOREVER straining and trying to poop to no avail. This continued on and off for two hours.

He would only get up to try to poop, exhaust himself, and then lay back down again. It was so sad. I couldn't get him to eat or drink anything until finally I got him to eat a teaspoon of pumpkin off a baby spoon.
Finally, FINALLY he pooped and then fell asleep almost immediately. He was so conked out that I was rather worried--I tried to wake him and he was groggy and lethargic. Not good. I called the vet and they were able to see us within the hour.
Now we're home from the vet (he's really racking up the appointments!) with no diagnosis but he's on amoxicillin, some anti-diarrhea medicine, and a can of super bland food for him to eat. I'm supposed to call them in the morning to update them on his condition. Oh and they rehydrated him and clipped and cleaned his backside--it was a mess back there after his rough day today.
At any rate, I'm hoping things quickly improve for my little Skippy...and I'm really hoping we have smooth sailing for a bit after this.
